The 24/7 News Stations

You the ones...CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and (if you can call it "news") Fox. Is there really enough news in the world to warrant four 24/7 news stations? I used to respect CNN. They were the ones I turned to when a crisis was happening or I wanted to get an update on what was going on. Now they have all this ridiculous technology like the giant white boards and the laughable holograms they used during the elections. And don't even get me started on Wolf Blitzer. If I wanted to be yelled at, I would stand on the left hand side of the escalators in the Tube stations. The guy always sounds like he's yelling instead of just talking. As I type this post, CNN just teased a story on the Italian Prime Minister's wife getting upset about his "wondering eyes". Really? That's news?

Fox News. Oh Fox News. You crack me up. I'm really sad that we don't get it over here because sometimes I just need a good laugh.

The way I look at it, we are warned when a hurricane or severe weather is coming our way. I'll flip the channel to a local station to keep up with it's progress (or just ask my meteorologist cousin Conley). Other than that, I've discovered that my mood seriously depresses when I watch more than one hour of the "news". Most of the stuff doesn't even apply to me anyways. One time, I went a whole week without watching any news, and can you believe that the world kept turning and I didn't miss anything! I encourage everyone to only watch one hour of less of "news" everyday. You will find that your outlook becomes more sunny and you will be a happier person in general. Get a new hobby, take a walk, enjoy the beautiful weather, spend time with real people and friends. This is my challenge to you. See if it makes a difference.
